Spotlight focuses on the DJs and producers who are making waves in the dance music underground.

Each edition features an exclusive mix and interview with an artist who has been handpicked by the team at Ministry Magazine.

This week we've got one of HK Record's hottest signings, Dominic Hammonds aka The Golden Boy, to tune in an hour of the very best in feel-good house vibes. Known for club hits "That Thing" and "Gonna Do", he has most recently been brought in for remix duty on MK's house anthem "Always".

Ahead of his appearance at Audio Rehab on 16th August, we sat down with The Golden Boy after he recorded an exclusive hour-long Spotlight mix.

Read our exclusive interview with The Golden Boy and listen to his Spotlight mix below. Enjoy!

Spotlight 007: The Golden Boy. by Ministry Of Sound on Mixcloud

Hi Dom! First of all thanks for doing an exclusive mix for us, what did you go for in the mix? Is this a representation of what you play out now or more what you listen to at home?

A little bit of both really. I listen to so much stuff at home and always forget to play it out so I use my DJ mixes as a platform to showcase some of this music.

For those who may be new to your music, how would you describe your sound?

It's feel good house music with some disco & garage elements.

How did you first get in to music, when did you know you wanted to be a DJ?

I've been making music for a long time. However my passion for electronic music really started when I went to university. I think watching people like Fake Blood, 2ManyDJ's & Annie Mac truly inspired me to get behind the decks.

What have you got coming up on the horizon?

My remix of MK feat. Alana - "Always" is out on ministry of sound on the 20th July, which I'm really excited to get out there. Other than that I have a remix of Danglo coming out on Kitsune and an EP out on Mike Mago's BMKLTSCH Records by the end of the month.

What can the Ministry of Sound crowd expect from your set at Audio Rehab?

Lots of new stuff from me mixed with house old and new!

What do you think of the state of dance music at the minute?

I think dance music is in a really good place. Whether it's commercial or underground. You only have to look at the popularity of the dance festivals this year to see how much the genre has grown.

Who are the most exciting underground artists that our readers might not have heard of but who you think will be big names to come?

Loving Cristoph and Sidney Charles at the moment. They both make amazing groove-driven house music, perfect for the clubs. Another name to check out is Applebottom. Wicked young producer from Brisol making banger after banger. Keep your eye out for him!

Who are your biggest influences?

Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, Groove Armada, Armand van Helden, MK, Duke Dumont, Kerri Chandler. The list is endless!

What do you like to do on your day off, what’s a typical Sunday like for you?

Sunday's are mostly spent recovering at the moment. Seems the more you develop as an artist the harder people want you to party!

How do you prepare for a gig?

Buy plenty of music, have a look at the line up and organise my USB sticks accordingly!

Who are your dream collaborators, past or present?

Working with someone like Basement Jaxx or Groove Armada would be amazing!

Tell us something we don’t know about The Golden Boy?

I played football at high school against Daniel Sturridge!
