This week, rising UK producer, Majestic takes centre-stage before he supports Ministry favourite, DJ Fresh on Saturday 21st February.

First of all thanks for doing an exclusive mix for us, what did you go for in the mix? Is this a representation of what you play out now or more what you listen to at home?

For this mix I took it back! Back to the music that I was DJing when I was 13 in my loft! Reason being, when I was younger trying to learn my craft, Ministry of Sound was a place I always dreamed of DJing at. I thought I would be fitting to regress back to the 13 year old Majestic, annoying the neighbours making mixtapes in my loft! Now I am making mixes for my forthcoming gig at MOS!

For those who may be new to your music, how would you describe your sound?

Eclectic! I have never ever wanted to be put in a pigeon hole as I feel it restricts creativity! One thing I would say is that I always try and make music with energy! Even the more down tempo stuff I have in the vault ready to come out, it has to have a groove and a vibe!

How did you first get into music, when did you know you wanted to be a DJ?

When I was about 12 at secondary school. There was a guy at my school called DJ KANGA who played on a massive pirate radio station called Passion 918 FM! I used to walk to his bus stop where he would get the bus to school (bit stalkerish) just so I could chat to him about tunes and radio. He used to wear his Passion Fm Jacket to school and I just thought "This guy is the man". For Christmas the same year I asked Santa to get me some Turntables and in 1999 I got my first pair of decks!

What have you got coming up on the horizon?

Next from me is likely to be an underground release of a track of mine called "Crooks"! It is bass heavy, 4x4, house/garage fusion! DJ EZ is the only other DJ with it at the moment and he tells me it's going off around the world!

What can the Ministry of Sound crowd expect from your set on Saturday 21st February?

A music journey! I always build my sets so it is like a journey. Covering as many musical angles of my style whether House/Garage/Bass/Drum and Bass etc. The set will build and build!

What do you think of the state of dance music at the minute?

Very healthy! There are huge dance records crossing over to the mainstream. Even my own track CREEPING IN THE DARK was one of Radio 1 Breakfast shows favorite records of the year! This is just pushing our sounds to a wider audience!

Who are the most exciting underground artists that our readers might not have heard of, but who you think will be big names to come?

Kane Law. He has played some Audio Rehab nights at Ministry of sound! He is making some wicked underground house music! Hybrid Theory is making some serious filthy bass action! Issac Christopher, someone I first worked with at Studio 338 for Regression Sessions, he is making some serious fire!

Who are your biggest influences?

I can't even think of one particular name. More genres as a whole!

What do you like to do on your day off, what’s a typical Sunday like for you?

The three Fs! Fifa/Family/Food.  I love to chill out at home with my feet up playing a bit of FIFA! Also family is very important to me! I have 11 nieces and nephews and I love to see them!

How do you prepare for a gig?

I don't! There is no pre-gig rituals or warm ups! I just like to go in and do the job!

Who are your dream collaborators, past or present?

I would love to work with Muse! My favourite band of all time!

Tell us something we don’t know about Majestic?

I am a massive metal fan! \m/
