Some might argue that electronic music is critically under-represented in this year’s Mercury Music Prize short list

Alongside elusive producer Aphex Twin, the fifteen strong list includes Jamie xx as a representative for the HDMI cable contingent of the music industry.

His debut album as a one man performance and production outfit sailed through summer as the dancing man’s album of choice. "Good Times" became a love song for nerds and thugs alike, with two spin off shops leading its legacy well into the Autumn.

If we were looking for another reason to quietly back In Colour as champ this evening, Jamie xx has deftly provided one. Appearing on Annie Mac’s Radio One show with some friends in tow, the producer performed three tracks: "Loud Places", "Stranger In A Room" and "Seesaw".

Accompanied by his xx band mates Romy and Oliver, Seesaw producer and general good uncle Four Tet and finally Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa. Listen in to eleven minutes of magic, and quietly cross your fingers that he wins.
