Reality television has claimed another victim
Presided over by Tiesto, Vevo produced 'Your Shot' is a new series where young, aspiring DJs push themselves to become the next EDM sensation. We've fine tooth combed the series over here so you don't have to. Spoiler alert: it's dreadful.
In anticipation of even more DJs throwing themselves into the mixing bowl that is reality television, we've matched up some of our favourites with the shows they'd be best suited to.
Steve Aoki - Great British Bake Off
Easing in with an easy win is the great master baker, Steve Aoki. His unorthodox practices might end up terrorising poor Mary Berry, but if there was ever a platform for him to reignite the caking of EDM shows past, it’s Great British Bake Off
Skrillex - Stars In Their Eyes
‘Tonight Matthew, I’m going to be a teenage screamo superstar’. ‘Tonight Matthew, I’m going to bastardise dubstep for the masses’. ‘Tonight Matthew, I’m going to be partially responsible for giving Justin Bieber the biggest dance track of 2015’. And so on.
Krewella - The Weakest Link
Chop off Anne Robinson’s slime breathing head and replace with two Krewella’s and what do you get? A double whammy of krewl, naming and shaming at a 180 degree angle, snapping the heads off of anybody stupid enough to find themselves the weakest link.
Diplo - 60 Minute Makeover
Hammer in hand, Diplo has become master of reconstruction, building tracks from their bare bones until they’re fleshed out, living and breathing in the image of their bare chested daddy. Just like the Laurence Llewelyn Bowen of dance music, he’s an easy to judge, difficult to fault tastemaker who knows precisely what to do with a concrete mixer.
Deadmau5 - Embarrassing Bodies
It doesn’t take a professional to see that a man who DJs in an enormous mouse mask must have some underlying issues with his self-esteem. A trip to the office of Dr Christian Jessen should sort ya.
Skream - Crystal Maze
Somebody get this guy out.
