We’re barely a breath into the new year and EDM DJs are already making headlines

It’s good news for once, as instead of being poked with the receiving end of criticism, artists like Krewella and DJ Snake have ended up on 2016’s Forbes 30 Under 30 music list.

The list compiles talent on the younger end of the spectrum, from producers to the moneyed brains behind the beats. A prime example is Krewella’s manager, Jake Udell, who sits alongside his act as one of the music industry’s hardest workers.

At 26, Udell has travelled through the ranks of entrepreneurial-ship, from selling signed sports merch as a teenager to now working with some of the biggest acts around. He is lauded for founding Th3rd Brain management, a talent agency who also look after ‘9AM (Till I Come)’ trance hero, ATB.

With tracks like "Lean On" breaking world records and EDM dominated music festivals steadily becoming the most popular of the summer season, it’s no surprise that ten percent of the Top 30 have something to do with the EDM phenomenon.

2014’s notable mentions included Avicii and Zedd, both of whom managed to bridge the gap between pop anthems and bass drops, using the two on hits like Avicii’s collaboration with soul star Aloe Blacc and Zedd’s work with Selena Gomez.
