The producer has made the shortlist of BBC Music's Sound of 2016

Back in November, 19(!) year old producer, Alex Crossan, placed in the long list for BBC's Sound Of 2016 award along with 14 other acts including J Hus, Section Boyz and Nao. This week the BBC are releasing the places of the final five as the shortlist is unveiled.

On Monday, Alex, under stage name Mura Masa, was announced as joint fifth place alongside R&B trio WSTRN. As part of the process, he performed his SoundCloud hit "Lovesick Fuck" with a live band for the first time.

The performance sees Mura Masa on synth and vocals, while accompanied by live drums, base and lead vocals from singer Bonzai. It's an impressive rendition of a track that was a constant feature on stereos last summer and proves he's more than deserving of his spot on the shortlist.

Lets hope 2016 is even bigger for one of dance music's most exciting new acts.
