Swooping on Los Angeles later this year, the first ever Electronic Music Awards have been confirmed for 21st September after being postponed in 2016.

The event will be live-streamed via Twitter, beginning at 7.47pm PT. Made up of 11 different catergories, these are voted upon by "a body comprised of the leading advisors and executives within the electronic community".

The becoming of an award show specifically for the electronic music community clearly displays the rapid growth of what was originally a deep rooted underground movement. Now worth a whopping $7.1billion (£5.5billion) the electronic music industry is currently one of the highest grossing music genres with thanks to successes of DJs such as David Guetta, Calvin Harris and Martin Garrix to name a few.

Co-produced by music legend Paul Oakenfold, he said the night will celebrate "the leading underground and commercial artists, creative, executives and visionaries shaping one of music and popular culture's most rapidly expanding genres".

Nominees, presenters, performers and more will be announced in weeks to come. Check the EM Awards online for more details.
