Did Goldie Just Expose Banksy's True Identity?

For two decades the modern world has been perplexed and enchanted by the elusive identity of political street artist, Banksy. Academics, journalists and scholars the world over have pondered and speculated over the anti-establishment Bristolian, but has a slip of the tongue from drum and bass stalwart Goldie given the final clue we've been waiting for. 

During an interview with the podcast Distraction Pieces, which aired on Tuesday, Goldie was discussing how people were trying to cash in on Banksy.

“Give me a bubble letter and put it on a t-shirt and write ‘Banksy’ on it and we’re sorted. We can sell it now," he said.

“No disrespect to Robert, I think he is a brilliant artist. I think he has flipped the world of art over.”

Despite only using his first name, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive after a fan theory emerged last year linking Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja to the mysterious pseudonym when Banksy artworks kept appearing close to Massive Attack performances around the world. Goldie and Robert grew up in Bristol and in the ‘80s, the two were both graffiti artists running in the same circle, coincidental much?

Since then there have been claims Banksy is in fact a collective with Del Naja as the front man, claims he vehemently denies.
