The man behind one of the most iconic dance tracks has passed away.
Robert Concina, known as Robert Miles passed away last night at the age of 47. Best known for "Children" the track is one of the most instantly recognisable and widely loved dance records of all time. In the mid 90s it reached No.1 in a staggering 12 countries and was one of the first big trance tunes to crossover into the mainstream.
After "Children" Robert had a string of hits including "Fable" "One And One" and "Freedom". He released an impressive five studio albums before stepping out of the limelight to focus on creating more experimental sounds.
In recent years the Italian DJ founded Open Lab, an Ibizan radio station focusing on ambient and experimental soundscapes. His death was reported by DJ Mag Italia, which stated he had passed away of an unknown illness at the age of 47 on the 9th May.
Luminaries from across the dance music world, including Pete Tong, Ferry Corsten and Darude have taken to social media to express their grief at his passing.
