Open Up at The Gallery assumes extra significance over its other global showcases, as concept founders, Simon Patterson and John Askew, enjoy a great affinity amongst The Gallery faithful. With the latter having held residency status and Simon himself celebrating many career milestones at The Gallery, the duo have been present at both previous OU showcases at Ministry of Sound. This duo, perhaps more than any other, have the expertise to push The Box and its mammoth sound system to the very limit – always reserving those untested cuts and re-edits for the occasion. As an extra treat for those who prefer their tunes a little harder, this time around welcomes a Gallery debut for Avalon plus the return of good friend Jerome Isma-Ae.
Ahead of the event, we got each OU London participant to pick their top track for Friday November 17th
SIMON PATTERSON – "ROLL THE CREDITS"
Simon: This is my brand new single out on VII on 13th November. A balls to the wall 144 BPM tech meets psy monster that has been taking the roof off at festivals and clubs this summer. I just can’t wait to hear this on the sound system in The Box…
JOHN ASKEW - "ID SAULTING DI STEFANO" (JOHN ASKEW MASH UP)
John: This is my mash-up featuring elements of Alex Di Stefano’s bass lines, kick and percussion and then an old hard trance track called Saluting Warriors that I used to play back in 1996 or 1997. It’s a heads down driving tribal record that kicks ass - IMO.
AVALON & ASTRIX - "MOONSHINE"
Avalon: I chose my collaboration track with Astrix called "moonshine", as not only is it my most recent release and a number 1 hit, but one of my personal favourites. This long-awaited collaboration was a huge success, it’s the kind of track that can played on both sides, mainstream and underground events.
JEROME ISMA-AE & TONE DEPTH – "KIERA" (ORIGINAL MIX)
Jerome: My top track for Open Up London and The Gallery is "Kiera". It’s my latest production with my buddy Tone Depth, and it was released last month on Suara.
