Huge news from Mike Skinner last night as he announced the long-awaited return of The Streets. A full seven years since their farewell tour, the band will be going on the road for a six-date tour in 2018.

The tour will kickoff in Skinner's home town of Birmingham, continue on to Glasgow, Manchester and Leeds before finishing up with a pair of concerts at London's O2 Brixton. In the interim period between the last Streets shows, Skinner has focused on DJing and throwing his own parties with Manchester's Murkage Dave under the 'Tonga' brand.

Fans of The Streets will no doubt be ecstatic about the tour announcement and hopeful about the prospect of new Streets music. Skinner made the announcement on his instagram last night, you can read his message to fans in full below.

“I’ve missed tour buses very much. Which is the least of the reasons why I have decided to tour The Streets again. The other thing I’ve missed is trying to think up what I’m going to say in the gap between the songs. When you DJ they tell you that you don’t need a tour bus and you don’t need to think up things to say between the songs. But seriously, it’s been long enough. With my Tonga parties, the new rap and grime MC’s I have been producing and the DJing, I have been living with music since making The Streets for nearly as long as I made The Streets. I’m not the guy smoking in the car anymore though, I have become the guy in the club, so I hope I will be excused for putting on after parties in nightclubs after every show”.

The tour goes on sale at 9am Friday 13th October.
