At the CES conference in Las Vegas, Panasonic have unveiled the eye-watering new Technics SP-10R. What is sure to become the unicorn of any tech-heads collection, the SP-10R comes in at a jaw-dropping $10,000.

We were gifted a glimpse of the new turntable back in August when images of the prototype leaked. The shockingly expensive turntable is aimed squarely at the audiophile market and has been referred to as the company's "most premium turntable ever". 

The official announcement detailed the SP-10R's specs, which include a coreless direct-drive motor with enough power to rotate the platter, which is weighted down by a 10mm-thick brass weight, with low speed irregularities.

The rear platter is furnished with a rubber layer to prevent any unwanted vibrations from cluttering up your luxury listening experience. The new model will be interchangeable with previous SP-10 models thanks to its specially designed capability for backward compatibility. Owners of the MK2 or MK3 turntable can use their current base and tonearm and upgrade to the SP-10R.

If you're a deep-pocketed audiophile, then this announcement will no doubt be music to your ears, but for the rest of us we'll just have to drool from afar.
