Meeting nearly 20 years ago on a flight to Spain, Pig&Dan are the duo behind some of the most explosive releases in modern techno. Pig&Dan are all about the Music, pushing that envelope by having a recognisable sound without boundaries.

In recent years they've teamed up with Adam Beyer, for a range of collaborations on Beyer's esteemed Drumcode label. As they've just released a new remix of Audiojack, we decided to get them into the Tuff Questions hot seat for the most difficult interview they've ever had.

 

 

Describe your press shot in five words or less

Pig: Did you just fart dude?

Dan: It's dark in here

 

What was the first song/album you bought with your own money?

P: Young MC - "Bust A Move" (Vinyl)

D: Beatles White Album

 

House or Techno?

P: Techno

D: Techno

 

What song would be your wrestling entrance theme?

P: ACDC - "Thunderstruck"

D: LL Cool J - "Mamma Said Knock You Out"

 

If House is a spiritual thing, who is its prophet?

P: Techno is a spiritual thing too and Sven Vath is the Prophet….

D: 100% agree with Pigster

 

 

What was your first email address?

P: Was too stoned to remember

D: Too stoned with Pig to remember

 

What would you say in your tinder bio?

P: Like the good things in life, no drama, just fun please

D: Bald but bold

 

Best way to cure a hangover?

P: Don't drink in the first place

D: English fry up

 

Who's the biggest party animal in dance music?

P: Probably Ricardo Villalobos is the king, the legend and the one and only... that's what us Leo's are good at...

D: Ricardo wins although Pig gave him a run for his money previously...

 

You can only ever play one record again for the rest of your life - what is it?

P: The Doors - "Riders On The Storm"

D: The Verve - "Bitter Sweet Symphony"

 

 

How do you describe your job to your grandmother?

P: I am a musician, and I make music. Pretty simple.

D: My work is my passion, one of the few lucky people who makes music and makes a living from doing so.

 

What's the most expensive thing you own?

P: An original signed Banksy print.

D: Yep, same for me. Some signed Banksy pieces, we both fell in love with his work from the very start.

 

What does your music smell like?

P: Like teen spirit.

D: A good night out.

 

You can only ever DJ B2B with one other person for the rest of your life, who is it?

P: It's pretty much like that anyways, so it would have to be Dan!

D: Pig!

 

What is she gonna look like with a chimney on her?

P: Can elephants fly?

D: Flat

 

 

If you had your own nightclub, what would you call it, and what's the dress code?

P: WARP and the dress code would be 'Dark Future'

D: Neon and the dress code - 'Less is more'

 

Who is your celebrity crush?

P: Monica Belluci

D: Lena Gercke

 

Is a hotdog a sandwich?

P: No, it's a sausage with bread

D: In the 18th century is was actually referred to as a Coney Island sandwich...

 

Tee total or tearing it up?

P: Before, tearing it up. Now, its tee total.

D: Been on both sides of that wall.

 

Favourite production? (pick one) lazers, disco ball, strobe, Co2, LED screen, confetti, foam, nothing or other.

P: Strobe, in the right moment. But rest of the time, pitch black.

D: Lazers all day long, if they're on I'm doing all the funny hand movements uncontrollably.

 

 

You can only wear one colour for the rest of your life, black is not an option, what colour do you choose?

P: Dark Grey then hahaha!

D: Dark blue.

 

Would you rather all your burps smell of eggs, or have a green cloud appear when you fart?

P: Burps smell of eggs.

D: When Pig farts there is a green cloud ha ha ha ha and I'd prefer that!

 

You're forming a cheesy pop group in the vein of 5ive, Steps, Spice Girls etc. You must all sing and do choreographed dance routines. Which other 3 DJs do you want in your band?

P: Christian Smith, Aitor Ronda and Mark Reeve.

D: Victor Ruiz, Guy J, John Digweed (always looks young).

P: I always sucked at maths so cant be bothered with this one LOL.

D: 2.5868895464776.

 

 

Why do lots of DJs wear masks? What's the deal with that?

P: So they don't feel so self-conscious when playing the big crowds, and I guess to be more recognisable.

D: So they can charge more money and other people can do their job if needed and nobody ever knows.

 

If a pregnant woman swims underwater, is she a submarine?

P: If she wears a yellow swimsuit, totally!

D: ha ha ha exactly.

 

Where is the strangest place you've DJed?

P: In a Subway toilet.

D: Same.

 

What's your secret weapon to rescue a dancefloor?

P: "Chemistry" by us :-)

P: The afters can be anywhere you want them to be, as long as are you awake after an all nighter...
